Basketball Hall of Famer Dies

He had perhaps one of the greatest careers in the history of Kentucky basketball. Nick Neely,age 84, passed away in his sleep last night at his home in Lexington, KY. The cause of death is yet to be determined. He was found by his wife around 10:00 Friday morning according to Lexington police. Neely leads the university in career points, field goal percentage, 3-pt percentage, free throw percentage, and assists. He led the cats to three straight national championships, including a 95-68 victory over Indiana in the final game of his senior season. The perfect ending to a perfect college career. He went on to play in the NBA and win one NBA Finals and one MVP honor before tearing his ACL ending his career. He was inducted into the National Basketball Hall of Fame located in Lawrence, KS as part of the 2025 class. The University of Kentucky has already planned a memorial service to be held on tuesday in Rupp Arena. Admittance will be free to all who dress appropriately. Please join as we mourn the loss of this big blue hero.
